Maria Rose and The Swiss Kicks are an Electronic/Soul/Rock trio from Flint, Michigan. Armed with powerful vocals, pulsating percussion, and driving synths their self-produced first album entitled "New Direction" to be released in June of 2011 will be a deliciously engaging treat for music lovers all over the world. At times sultry and vivacious, other times anxious and gritty their sound has been compared to that of Florence and The Machine, Tori Amos, and Adele. The trio’s live performances are ablaze with raw, passionate emotion and have been diligently winning over fans that are now eagerly awaiting the release of their first album. The talented trio has developed their craft through both live performances and attending music colleges. Singer/Songwriter Maria Rose has studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston and has traveled nationally with corporate bands. She is also the winner of the 2008 Michigan Popstar Contest. But singing other people’s songs just wasn’t enough for Maria, so she continued to write original material, learn guitar, and play piano. She met Beni Schlatter, an established percussionist, producer, and teacher who studied at the University of Michigan-Flint, after moving back to Michigan in 2008. His wide range of experiences with music and artists (both local and international, in the conservatory and in the streets) added a whole new dimension to Maria's songs and soon after the two began to play live shows together. After playing for a year as a duo, they found the missing piece of the puzzle in the form of synth player John Patrick. Half mad scientist, half genius musician, whiz Kid John Patrick attended Eastern Michigan University where he studied Mathematics and Music. Born in Marquette, he quickly realized there wasn’t much music to be made and promptly relocated to Ann Arbor. His own live electronic Project Aleph-1 has toured nationally and amassed a global following since the release of their 2008 debut LP. After seeing him perform with Aleph-1, Maria and Beni knew that he would add just the right amount of “Kick” that the they had been craving. Since then, the trio has been moving audiences with their infectious grooves and passionate, telling lyrics. Maria Rose and The Swiss Kicks are getting ready for a busy summer of performing and promoting the release of “New Direction”. They are also continuing to write more material for a second album, and will be recording a music video in June. Check them out at www.mariarosekicks.com
