A spirited performer with a powerful voice and magnetic stage presence would be one way of summing up artist Michael Reich. For over 20 years, this singer/songwriter and guitarist has been captivating audiences with his memorable melodies and intelligent lyrics. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on April 6, 1959, Michael grew up in the rural highlands and was attracted to music at an early age. Around age 13, he began practicing the guitar; he was composing music by the time he was eighteen. After graduating from Meyersdale High School in 1977, Michael attended business school. He also studied broadcasting and worked in radio before trying his hand as a professional musician. Michael has currently released four albums: Pushing Hard to the Shore (1989), Before I Let It Go (2000), Who’s Minding The Store (2003) and Writing on the Wall (2008). He is inspired by all that surrounds him and in turn produces music on a variety of subjects and emotional topics. Michael’s distinctive blend of pop, folk and rock ensures a unique sound, yet it is entirely possible to discern similarities between the artist and some of his influences most notably rock icons Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Since 1981, Michael has been a member of ASCAP and has received accolades from their awards panel. He has traveled extensively across the tri-city area performing with different bands. Noted for his abilities as a lyricist, Michael has been chosen to showcase at the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA, for the last six years. His music receives airplay on radio and internet stations around the world. In 2003, his release Who’s Minding The Store was added to top ten lists for the year by Pennsylvania Musician Magazine. Michael has recently released his fourth album Writing On The Wall with multi-platinum producer Mark S. Berry (IME, David Bowie, Yes, Killjoys, Duran Duran). His latest album was recorded at Zolis Audio in Toronto, Canada and released by Attack/Universal Records with publishing by CherryLane (Elvis Presley, John Denver, Black Eyed Peas). In 2006 he performed for music industry representatives in New Orleans as part of the Cutting Edge Music Conference. 2007 & 2008 have advanced Mr. Reich’s career with his tracks appearing on charts all over the internet. More good news followed with his track “Turning on a Dime” being inserted into an independent movie entitled “In Love” produced/directed by Izidore K.Musallam. In 2009 “Turning on a Dime” again was singled out as the grand prize winning song in the Music Universe Song Writing Contest held by Uplaya.com sponsored by American Songwriter. The same track was also runner-up in the Song of the Year contest as well. He is currently preparing to hit the studio again with a batch of new material. As a powerful and memorable performer, it’s likely that Michael Reich will be serenading the masses for years to come.
Sounds great! Opening track is killer and the production values are top notch. Your voice reminds me (my ears are subjective) of Mr. Garrett from Midnight Oil. Nice work, Michael
