Lyna Trina (born Ngo Minh Trang in 1995, August 13) is a Vietnamese student, an infamous singer-songwriter, a photographer and a creative fashion & advertising designer. She once participated in a game show called “English Superstar” by Dau Tay Entertainment and both teams got the first prize. Lyna Trina was born in Ha Noi, the capital city of Vietnam, to Ngo The Minh – a business support analyst and Pham Ngoc Bich – a North training manager. She was exposed to art when she was 11. She liked drawing comics and pictures which have mysterious meanings, so she started many different comics, but none of them was finished. “I’ve never been satisfied with anything I do”, she laughed. She learned to use the camera when she was 10, and when she got into secondary school, it was the first time she knew about taking photos of herself. She noticed her friends put up their photos on their blogs and she thought it was interesting. She actually liked it and she tried it alone by taking photos by herself. Her mother noticed she actually had a sense about art. She’s been taking photos a lot and the inspirations often comes from her beautiful life. At age 12, she was really interested in designing websites and stuffs, and she had different kinds of thought from her friends about the layouts she used for her blog, which made her more special than anyone else. “I wanted everything to be professional and impressive, and at least, it had to have a subject about something.”, she confessed. When everybody took photos of themselves and put on their blogs, she had her own background, “It was a picture of a beautiful view near the window with a cup of tea, a book and glasses”. When she turned 13, her mom explained that she was exposed to art when she was little. Then she’s suddenly interested in music, and the first song she ever wrote was When You Fall Asleep, a ballad about “when you fall asleep, the person you love the most would always be there for you, to keep you safe”, she said. The music was recorded unprofessionally so she decided not to release the song. On Father’s Day (2009), she wrote another song for her father, called Wonderful Father, which she described it was all about the way she loved her father, deep inside and beautiful. She started to figure out about many sound editors software like Wave Pad, Adobe Audition,… Now she’s been using FL Studio to produce her music but the quality of vocal recording hasn’t gotten any better. “I don’t have a studio for myself, well because it’s really expensive to build one in my house, even if I have a good place.” There’re plenty of studios in Ha Noi but “my mom doesn’t know if she should invest or not, because she’s not really sure about me becoming a singer!” Lyna laughed. Lyna has released her first Internet-only music album with her favorite type of music, featuring her two singles: Myself and Wonderful Father (remix). The album was recorded unprofessionally so the sound has bad quality. Since then, she’s been writing a lot of new songs, and she loves doing it. “It’s like my hobby, well, not really, I want to do it even when I have other important things to do!” Lyna confessed. She usually sings R&B Pop. Becoming a singer is not a realistic dream to Lyna. “I was really confused when my mom told me that, and I sent a message through Myspace to Kina Grannis to have some advice. Well actually, she thought so, too. And after that, I decided to have a back-up plan. Becoming a creative advertising designer is not a bad one, right?” So why don’t we make her dream come true?
