Bio:
Shiva Sound “Lluvia Positiva” Nov 2010 Love, rhythm, dancing telluric exuberance, the karmic wheel continues spinning as Shiva Sound comes back with an album to remind us that her rich and long singing career has lead to her now reaching even greater heights with her music…. Shiva Sound is Stefanie Ringes, Dutch and a resident of Barcelona but with her heart spread out between India, France and Argentina. And that career being the one, let´s not forget, of the most vibrant traveller of Experimental Pop and World Fusion since the days of Lions in Love, trio of great talent in where, in the highlight of their success, the Great Daniel Melingo was part of it. It was on one of her trips to India that Stefanie found a microphone with its brand name “Shiva Sound System” on it giving her instant inspiration and so Shiva Sound was born. And now once again her voice hypnotizes us with its different flavours where it shines and enhances like “a basket with good proposals”, as quoted from one of her songs. Stef only works with what she knows but she almost knows everything. Every song seems to flow from the other, but always maintaining its own individuality and identity. She is Portishead, Flamenco, Jamaica Roots, Hip hop, Dance, Calypso, Rock and Soul, and always including a final oriental touch. It’s been twenty years since the publishing of Lions in Love by Warner, and ten years since the first Shiva Sound album, released by K- Industria with Lluvia Positiva ( positive rain). So with this third Shiva Sound album, we find it perfectly encapsulating something from all her prior works. This is a come back with bewitching style from one of the most beloved voices of the Spanish panorama. The album was a finalist in the “Independent Music Awards UFI” 2010. However there is nothing better than to listen to it live, where we can really feel its Rock & Urban vibe and rootsy origins. It’s a great moment for Stefanie Ringes, who is not only Shiva Sound, but sometimes also La Flamme. We mustn’t forget her 2008 album “Nocturna” and neither that this alter ego lent one of her tracks to well known film director Isabel Coixet for the soundtrack of “Maps of the Sounds of Tokyo”. In these times of ephemeral music careers we rejoice in knowing that the charismatic personality of Stef doesn’t hesitate in expanding her musical creativity: she carries on, always striking back. Let it rain for all. Bruno Galindo
