Bio ORGANIC FUNK BIO Organic Funk is a four piece rock band based in Toronto, Canada that definitely lives up to it's name as they have developed gradually and naturally without being forced or contrived. The band composes, produces and performs music which has been described as "contemporary rock with a funky groove and a hint of retro". Although the group aspires to perform their own original material they win approval for their original songs by interspersing well known musical titles that blend with their originals, elevating their songs along side classic hits. The band's goal is to become well known internationally. They have built a strong following in their home territory and have an excellent web presence through their web profile on My Space. The band consists of Michael Costantini - Lead Vocals and Guitar; Galen Pelley - Drums; Jim O'Brien – Bass, Sax and vocals and Alan Zemaitis – keyboards and vocals. Their first CD release entitled "When it Began", was self produced and captured the attention of Backstage Music Publishing, one of Canada's leading international music publishing companies, headed up by Steve Thomson. Thomson took an interest in the band and introduced them to veteran rocker David Bacha who was so excited about the group that he began working with them to advance their material while producing 2 tracks for them. When Organic Funk began in 2007 they were 3 young guys who loved music but also had something to say. The band's growth in the past 3 years has been an eye-opener for fans and friends alike. Their new album, entitled Speak Now features 10 great tracks and is scheduled for release this fall on Trilogy Records, which is distributed world-wide on the web by The Orchard. The music performances are dynamic and the lyrics have a message that is right "For Today". The band has a strong contingent of fans who have been working the social media networks and creating a buzz. An official fan club is also being set up. The band has a web page at www.organicfunk.ca. They are currently booking appearances at University and College Campuses while they continue to perform at clubs in the Toronto area. The band hopes to perform at some major Festivals and Events that take place across Canada this summer and they are optimistic that they can secure some opening spots on a major concert tour.
