Bio:
Aura is a unique New York City based group made up of four studio musicians of diverse musical styles. Formed almost 10 years ago, all the members met each other on various recording sessions in the busy NYC studio world. Aura quickly became the house band performing and developing their sound for over 10 years in the Tribeca venue Flor Del Sol. All 4 members come from a resume of literally thousands of gigs and recording sessions for many of the greatest artists in the world. The new CD features the guitars of its leader and composer Tony Viscardo. The core of the group is Mr. Viscardo on various guitars, acoustic and electric / Cliff Schmitt Acoustic Bass/ Frank Valdes Percussion and Bob Magnusson/Soprano Saxophone. On this there their 2nd CD Aura has brought on board many world-renowned guest musicians. Percussionist Manolo Badrena (Weather Report) Saxophonists Bob Sheppard (Steely Dan, Chick Correa) Chris Hunter (Gil Evans) Violinist David Mansfield (Sting, Bob Dylan) Guitarist’s Vinnie Zummo (Joe Jackson) Hernan Romero (Al Di Meola) all add their talents to Aura’s unique sound.

This review is from: Wires on Wood (Audio CD)

I rarely listen to jazz lest flamenco music, but I came across these guys doing their thing and

I really enjoyed listening.

Jazz musicians need to become more accessible to listeners and this is one way. I found myself

getting lost in "wires on wood" which tells a story musically. And "Tears On My Guitar", has some serious soul within the

chords and melody being offered.

This is something you can enjoy, musician or not. Sit back and relax as these guys take you half way around the world and back.
