Teddy Ray was born in the hills of Northeast Kentucky in greenup County.
At an early age he was introduced to the rich traditional sound of bluegrass music from the greats such as Bill Monroe and Ralph Stanley.
He got his singing and songwriting ability honest. His mother was a singer-songwriter herself which led him to being exposed to the sounds of large crowds, studios and loud music at an early age.
When Teddy was Twelve years old he moved to Troy Alabama with his parents where he resides currently.
At that age he was introduced to the three kings in the state of Alabama. Hank Williams Sr., Hank Williams jr., And Bear Bryant the head coach of the University of Alabama football.
Teddy soon learned how to to play guitar and started writing songs which seem to come natural.
He signed his first publishing contract in 1999 with Barrister records/Endless highway publishing company from Opp,Alabama.
The labels president was Lamar Morris band leader for Hank Williams jr. And a very successful songwriter with hits recorded by Hank, Jerry Lee Lewis, Loretta Lynn, Trace Adkins and many more.
The CEO of the label was a very successful attorney and businessman Wesley Laird who is also an accomplished writer himself.
From that joint partnership with endless highway publishing company Teddy was able to chart two songs in the UK by Greg Windham with a song called it just ain't right and an artist by the name of Krysten Smyth recorded a song called he went from never going to leave too gone which was written by Teddy and Wesley Laird.
Teddy has been singing all of his life but has only started singing for the general public over the past decade. In his own words he's a songwriter first and foremost that's where his passion lies. They have to be heard so that's why he sings them.
Through his adventures with endless highway publishing company Teddy has met some very important people in the music business in Nashville Tennessee.
He's very honored to have been able to meet and get to know some of the legends of his childhood. In his own words, "if I never live to see another day God was really good to me".
