Born and raised in small town Ontario, teen psyhouse artist Jacob Lang strides forth as an innovator of North American electronic music. Jacob has had a passion for the work that goes into the production of music since he was born. Armed with over a decade of musical experience, (primarily acoustic guitar), Jacob has attempted to form and manage many rock bands and trance projects, like “Project_Untitled” and “Infectus Aetherius”. These, quite frankly, did not succeed and then Jacob realized that all he could rely on for musical inspiration was himself. The project started in late 2010 where Jacob was given his first synthesizer keyboard and fell in love with the variety of sounds that could emerge from electronic music. He created dozens of drafts and demo tracks which eventually led to the tunes found within songs on his debut album, The Ashen Cavalier. “The word genre often puts up barriers to the true creativity that should be in music,” Jacob says, “This album got quite a bit of a negative response when I first put it out there in March of 2011 because I stated that it was trance music. Many people thought it would be generic trance, but I decided to make it a little different.” The sounds found in The Ashen Cavalier are a bit rough around the edges, but the most popular track on the album, Inferno, broke the barrier of the trance style. Malus Caelestis also collaborated with indie electronica artist: My Type of Sound, creating a unique track called Synth Blend, adding yet another style to the album. As soon as the debut album was complete, Jacob went into a more experimental psychedelic style of music, starting work on an EP of remixes entitled, A Series of Psychill Remixes. This EP includes remixes of tracks by SynSun, Kipster, Vmixx, Blitz, and The Gnome Sorcery Federation. Already a plan has been laid out for the rest of 2011, and Jacob plans on putting out a Single and maybe another full album. The next album may be released in early 2012.
