Applespacebar's mission when writing a song is to act as if it's the only song they will ever write and that it will be the only song of theirs the listener will ever hear. So it has to be right. The first reaction most people have when they hear the band name Applespacebar is huh? Ben Trexel (guitars, production) and Johnny Nine (lead vocal and keys), the two founders of the band, spend so much time in the recording studio that they found themselves constantly saying the phrase "Apple Spacebar." Since this is the keyboard shortcut on their DAW of choice which initiates the recording process (Digidesign Pro-Tools), they found the name fitting for their endeavors. Applespacebar's sound is the culmination of many years of exposure to the grand soundscape of music that has crossed their paths. They do not feel the need to reinvent the wheel but rather to put some new tread on the tires. With the addition of Lake Trechsel on drums, Patrick Prantl on guitar, and Chipper Bonds on bass, the ensemble was complete. Trexel states, "I think every artist strives to evoke a mood, a feeling among listeners similar to ones they had when they were younger listening to their heroes. For me it was Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, CSN, and early Aerosmith. But I also love many modern groups who have built on that legacy of the past but still manage to form a new and unique sound, most notably Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Foo Fighters, and Coldplay. If we can add some enjoyment and emotional impact for our listeners while adding new elements to the vocabulary of popular rock, then we have done our job." Building on the success of their debut release, Applespacebar released their second full length CD, SONGS YOU MIGHT LIKE, in May, 2010. Now in 2012 the new release "Big In Japan" has hit the airwaves. Eleven tracks of top notch songs by AppleSpaceBar
